It was forecast that overseas travel market would decline 30 percent if no measures were issued to help the tourism industry. Mr. Charoen Vang-ananont, president of the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA), said a number of tourists going abroad would fall 30 percent between the first and the third quarter of this year.

European car sales ‘in 20-year slump’

European new cars sales slumped in January to the lowest level for twenty years, trade data showed on Friday. Sales fell by 27 percent in January from the figure in January last year, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) said. New registrations totalled 958,517 cars, the lowest level for two decades, ACEA said.

Senior students who will graduate soon were worried about unemployment during the economic recession, according to a poll. Bangkok University surveyed 1,226 respondents from government-run and private universities in Bangkok and adjourning provinces. Most Thais cut costs to cope with economic crisis
